Geography
The Geography Section of Charles University’s Faculty of Sciences has recently been ranked among the top 100 global geography workplaces, according to the QS World University Ranking. The Geography Section is located in the Albertov 6 building. The Section Vice-Dean is Assoc. Prof. Martin Ouředníček.
The Section includes a total of four Departments, respectively headed by:
Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography (Assoc. Prof. Lucie Kupková);
Demography and Geodemography (Assoc. Prof. Jiřina Kocourková);
Social Geography and Regional Development (Prof. Jiří Blažek);
Physical Geography and Geoecology (Assoc. Prof. Václav Treml).
The Geography Section also includes the Geographical Library and Map Collection.

Studying geography is definitely not all about lectures and study obligations. While a student, you can take part in the activities of various student associations, Faculty-wide activities, and several sports courses and geography field trips. Specifically, the following geography student associations are active in the Section: EGEA Praha – (European Geography Association for Students and Young Geographers; Czech only), Geography Volunteers (Czech only), Student Demography Club (Czech only), Young Demographers (Czech only) and the HC Přírodověda UK (Czech only) Ice Hockey Club, FSc CU Tourist Club (Czech only) and the Hydrant hydrology association (Czech only). In addition, there is a project entitled We Enjoy Geography (Czech only), and the Geography Section is home to the Geography Olympiad (Czech only) and the Czech Geographical Society (Czech only).
