Electronic Mail

Once you set your password after receiving your Charles University ID card, the faculty will automatically create an email account for you in the @natur.cuni.cz domain within 24 hours. Your primary login email address will always have the format login@natur.cuni.cz (the part before the @ sign is your faculty login, which is used to sign in to your mailbox as well as other faculty applications). You will also automatically receive a more user-friendly alias in the format firstname.lastname@natur.cuni.cz. Both addresses point to the same mailbox, so it does not matter which address someone uses to contact you—all messages will arrive in one place.

You can easily access your email via posta.natur.cuni.cz or directly through the standard Gmail login page. The interface is the same as the one you may already know from your personal email account, except that it is completely ad-free and fully integrated with the faculty environment.

Your faculty email account is our primary communication channel. Instructors use it to send important study materials and course-related information, and the faculty uses it to inform you about deadlines, announcements, and other important updates. If you choose not to check your faculty mailbox regularly, we strongly recommend setting up automatic forwarding to your personal email account. Messages sent from private email addresses can sometimes be filtered as spam, and therefore we cannot guarantee that all important communications will reach you in time.

For this reason, please use your faculty email address for all correspondence related to your studies. It appears more professional and ensures that your inquiries are properly recognized and do not get overlooked.
