During your studies at the Faculty, you can take advantage of a wide range of professional software applications either completely free of charge or at discounted rates. Most of them can be installed directly on your own laptop, although some require you to be connected to the Faculty network (e.g., via eduroam) in order to function. A complete list of available software and detailed installation instructions can be found on the CIT website.
Perhaps the most valuable benefit is access to Microsoft 365 (A3 license), which is available to you free of charge throughout your studies. You can install it on up to five personal devices, including smartphones and tablets running Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS. The license is activated through your university account, giving you continuous access to the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications.
For advanced calculations and scientific computing, the Faculty provides licenses for MATLAB and Simulink. These can be installed without limitation on both personal computers and computers in Faculty classrooms.
Students in fields such as Geology and Hydrology also have access to Grapher and Surfer from Golden Software, which are particularly useful for data visualization, analysis, and mapping applications.
Students working with graphics, video, or photography can obtain Adobe Creative Cloud (the complete suite of Adobe applications) through a discounted annual subscription. Unlike Microsoft 365, this is not a free license; however, it is offered at a significantly reduced student rate that can be purchased directly through Adobe.
The Faculty uses AVG Business Edition for antivirus protection. It is important to note that this software is licensed only for computers owned by the Faculty and requires an internal Faculty IP address for installation. Therefore, if you are working in a laboratory or computer study room, your device is protected through this software.
